Quilled Hearts from the Archives

Again, I want to show some simple Valentine's Day cards and link my website hearts for those who are new. The page is very old but still relevant. So many people email me thanking me for the lopsided heart, because they say it helps hide imperfections when the two teardrops don't match up. And I have always said "Imperfection Adds Character".  💟

Hearts are SO simple, fun to quill and they don't always have to be red. Thanks for looking today.

Quilled Hearts ~ Valentine's Day Cards

These are easy and fun to create. Quilled hearts (two teardrop shapes glued side-by-side) and a little bit of twine. I like to use eccentric loose rolls before shaping the larger hearts.

The teardrops are 4, 6 and 8 inch strips.

 8 and 24 inch teardrops

4 inch teardrops

I used free fonts from DaFont website.

My quilled hearts website page.

Have a great day!

Simple Valentine's Day Cards

Happy Valentine's Day

The heart is two eccentric teardrops using a 1/8 x 24" strip for each shape.
The balloon heart is curved at the tip and a 3" triangle added to the bottom.
The font is Courier New 60 pt.

Have a great week!

Quilled Heart Valentine's Day Card

Whatever your heart wishes, my heart wishes for you!

The inside says "Happy Valentine's Day, Friend"!

When I finished filling in the heart, it was lopsided. I didn't want to toss it, so I added a few curved strips at the top to even it out.

Remember .. Imperfection adds character!

Happy day,

Valentine's Day Sayings

When I need a Valentine's saying for a card or project I usually draw a complete blank. I found this blog post that has many cute Valentine's Day sayings and links to some projects. You may already follow Skip to my Lou; she is a top-shelf blogger and has a mega Facebook page.

Last Minute Valentine Favor Boxes

This is another version of my tall favor boxes. This size is for the smaller petite baking cups (1.24" 3.2 cm). Depending on your candy, about three or four paper cups fill a box. You can also fill with small toys or money!

Here is the template I made showing the size and score measurements. The blue lines are cut lines; red dots indicate the pieces of the template that you will cut off and discard. I used a corner rounder punch for the top flap piece. In addition, I also cut the side flaps at the top of the box in half (not shown in the blank photo).

This is what your box should look like before assembly.

Before I assembled, I used a circle cutter to make a 1-inch window in the front of the box. I glued a square of clear cellophane inside over the cut-out.  First, the 3/4-inch flap on the side is adhered to the opposite side. I use a tape runner. I find it is easier to line up the flap to the side. Next, the bottom flaps are tucked in and the last one glued down. BAM! You have a box to embellish and fill with treats.

These are for the staff at my dad's home and filled with Butterfinger Mini's and Junior Mints. They are a bit plain, I used ribbon and conversation heart stickers from Michaels. So use your imagination to embellish your own little boxes.

Have a sweet Valentine's Day! XO

"Inchies" Quilled Valentines

I made these little two-inch Valentine's Day cards with a silver embossed inchie, raised and embellished with quilling, punched hearts and a tiny red crystal. I stamped on white gloss paper for a little place to write a few words inside. The 1/8 inch quilling strips are silver gilded on edge garnet paper made in England. The shimmer of the silver is gorgeous in person. Click on the pictures to enlarge.
