Congratulations to Ann Martin!

Happy March!

I am so excited to announce that a quilling friend, Ann Martin, has authored a book, currently in print and it will be released May 28th. It is titled All Things Paper: 20 Unique Projects from Leading Paper Crafters, Artists, and Designers and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Ann is the creator of All Things Paper, a blog about the latest on the craft scene... stylish projects, trends and book reviews. She interviews established artists and features novice artisans with big ideas. She also offers fabulous giveaways from time to time. Ann enjoys introducing her specialty, quilling, to those who have never seen or heard of the rolled paper art. In addition to designing projects for books, magazines, and websites, she creates amazing custom quilled marriage certificates.

I cannot wait to get my copy and see all the projects. Congratulations, Ann!

Have a great weekend :o)

Work Table Organizer

This is a photo of the organized corner of my work table :) I love this 12" revolving four-tray bin I found at Harbor Freight for only $20.00. The only drawback is ... it comes with over 70 screws and the assembly took a while. Chris put it together for me while watching TV.

This is a great organizer for the desk, especially if you keep your work area cluttered like I do, and want everything within reach.

Favorite All-Time Bookmark

A long, long time ago (ten or so years) before Facebook, handy score tools and a boatload of how-to blogs, I came across a website that had every paper template imaginable to score, fold and make fabulous creations with paper. It has become my all time favorite go-to site and I continue to use it, often! This magnificent website is Mel Stampz. I also follow her like a puppy all over Pinterest for the latest and greatest finds.

This website is filled with hundreds of templates to make bags, boxes (my favorite), envelopes, purses AND a ton of free tutorials, printables and much more.

(If you use Mel's finds for projects, please give credit back to her website.)

Have a GREAT week!

Quilled Hearts ~ Valentine's Day Cards

These are easy and fun to create. Quilled hearts (two teardrop shapes glued side-by-side) and a little bit of twine. I like to use eccentric loose rolls before shaping the larger hearts.

The teardrops are 4, 6 and 8 inch strips.

Tuesday Tip

I have been using this daisy background graphic for about six months for all occasion cards. I make the daisies while watching TV or when I am in a mood to quill. I like to use the 1/16" English paper strips I buy from Whimsiquills .. the strips are actually more narrow than the American 1/16" paper.

I embellished this with several shades of brown chalk, set it with a fixative and glued it on the card. The center tight roll is slightly convex. I covered the quilled daisy with two layers of tissue paper and mailed in a regular envelope, no bubble packaging.

TIP: If you make up a stack of all occasion cards ahead of time and use quilled motifs on your cards, try using 1/16" paper strips and mail one to yourself, first, to test how it turns out in regular mail.

Have a great day!

Glow-in-the-Dark Wall Art

I came across a blog project that made me think Holy Cow, WOW...  Lisa Fulmer is a marketing strategy and communications specialist, a mixed media artist, a crafter, a consultant for small businesses and a creative project designer. I personally know her talent as a professional demonstrator, a fantastic singer and actor (as Marilyn). She is one of the friendliest people I know that I haven't met in person. You may also know Lisa from the recent TLC show Craft Wars. She assisted her crafting friend Andrea Currie and they WON their episode - and a $10,000.00 prize!

Lisa used puffy paint™ from iLoveToCreate on a .... well, I will let you read and see for yourself, below.

and be sure to check out the other puffy paint projects at the end of Lisa's post

Of course my mind starting racing trying to think of how I could use the puffy paint™ (perhaps in a quilling glue bottle with a smaller tip) on pretty paper with a similar effect. After sleeping on it, I have decided to make a smaller paper, framed wall hanging for the kitchen. A coffee motif, with a touch of quilled-looking something, that I will see when the lights are out every night while skipping off to bed.

I will post it here soon.

Thank you, Lisa Fulmer, for letting me share your unique project.

Everyone have a great week!
