Happy Fall Y'all

I don't make many cards but this is a favorite autumn card. I used paper from The Autumn Splendor Stack (DCWV). The piece leftover after trimming, fit perfectly as the envelope lining. I used spiced marmalade Distress Ink to cover the core white edges of the card and layer pieces. The message piece is raised.

Both papers have a gold foil print on them.

I also used quilled sticker leaves from my Provo Craft Stand Out line (no longer available). I have project ideas for those exact quilled leaf motifs, 8 different shapes & colors and basic instructions how to make the quilled leaves.

Handmade Holiday Bookmarks

Handmade bookmarks make nice, inexpensive holiday gifts. Six 2.5" x 5.5" bookmarks can be printed on one sheet of cardstock.  Place quilled elements or other 3D embellishments on the top half of the bookmark. I used a circle punch on the top corners of the middle one and a corner rounder punch on other two.

Poinsettia: red petals are 6", green leaves are 8" and center tendrils are 1/2" using bright yellow 1/16" wide.

Hanging Miniature Snowflake: 1/16" wide bright white strips, center and marquise are 1", hanger, tight rolls and closed hearts are 1.5" long.

Autumn Card

I don't make many cards for show, but I did make this card over the weekend for a World Card Making Day live web cast. I used paper from The Autumn Splendor Stack (DCWV). The piece leftover after trimming, fit perfectly as the envelope lining. I love it when things like that just happen. I used spiced marmalade Distress Ink to cover the core white edges of the card and layer pieces. The message piece is raised.

Both papers have a gold foil print on them. You can see the shine in the photo below.

Quilled Fall Leaves

Here are various shapes and colors of quilled fall leaves, along with a list of project ideas. Making just one colorful quilled leaf, and placing it on a little note card or tag, will do the trick for an occasion.

Shades of Autumn

I was googling for some pictures of autumn and of course they are all stunning with color. When fall arrives each year, I think of watching Martha Stewart's shows in the 90's. She used to have the best fall decorations, crafts and recipes. I think she still does.

I copied part of a 60 Minutes commentary by Andy Rooney. He says:

I think if we had a vote, fall would probably be most people's favorite season. Some people who like fall call it autumn. I never use the word "autumn." It sounds pretentious. The down side to fall is it's the beginning of the end of everything. Flowers die, the leaves dry up and come off the trees, water in the lake gets too cold to swim in and vacation's are over. First thing you know someone's trying to sell you a Christmas tree.
